Victoria Ruth Martinez is a Chicana artist based in Mexico City. Her work is grounded in figurative painting, alternating with media such as photography and illustration.

She graduated with an AA degree in Liberal Arts from Long Beach City College in 1996; in the 1990s she was part of the graffiti movement in Los Angeles. She has lived in Mexico City since 2003, participating in diverse artistic projects. In 2022 she joined a painting atelier led by Mexican painter Elena Manero in Mexico City, and in 2023 established her own studio in downtown Mexico City. 

Her recent pictorial work explores, from an autobiographical perspective, the emotional processes involved in material accumulation and the excesses of the body.  She addresses how attachment, memory, gender and consumerism contribute to excess and the contradictions that emerge in contemporary life. 

In 2024 and 2025 she participated in 12 group exhibitions in Mexico, the United States, and Spain, and presented an individual exhibition in Mexico City. Her work was featured in the 2025 edition of Latino Book Review and in Suboart Magazine No. 38.
